System design: scaling, load balancing, monolith vs. microservices

Scaling up means a bigger server; scaling out means more servers behind a load balancer. A monolith is one deployable app; microservices split it into many. Start with a well-organized monolith almost always.

Why it matters when you build with AI: AI tools happily suggest complex architectures. Simple systems are easier to secure, debug and pay for.
