AI Agents

Don't confuse "AI agents" with real estate agents. In the AI world, an agent is an autonomous AI system that can take actions on your behalf — browsing the web, managing files, executing multi-step tasks, and making decisions without you hovering over every click. This is a massive leap from chatbots that just answer questions. AI agents can do things for you.

The Platforms

The Leading AI Agent Platforms

Claude can now see your screen, move your mouse, click buttons, and type — just like a human assistant sitting at your computer. It can navigate websites, fill out forms, extract data from platforms, and complete multi-step workflows autonomously.

Real Estate Applications:

  • Pull comparable sales data from MLS systems automatically
  • Fill out listing paperwork across multiple platforms
  • Research neighbourhood amenities and compile reports
  • Monitor competitor listings and price changes

Perplexity has evolved beyond search into a full autonomous research agent. It can conduct deep, multi-step investigations across the web — finding, cross-referencing, and synthesizing information from dozens of sources, with full citations.

Real Estate Applications:

  • Generate comprehensive neighbourhood market reports with cited data
  • Research zoning changes, development permits, and local bylaws
  • Compile buyer packages with school ratings, transit scores, and demographics
  • Monitor market trends and generate weekly digest reports

Proceed with Caution

The Risks: What You Need to Know

🔒 Security Concerns

When you give an AI agent access to your computer, browser, or files, you're handing over the keys. If it navigates to a phishing site, accidentally shares sensitive data, or interacts with the wrong system — the consequences are real. Never give agents access to financial accounts or legal documents without strict safeguards.

🔐 Data Privacy

Client information — names, addresses, financial details — is sensitive. Be very careful about which AI agents can access your CRM, email, or document storage. Ensure the platform has strong encryption and clear data handling policies.

❌ Hallucination Risk at Scale

When a chatbot hallucinates, you catch it. When an autonomous agent hallucinates and takes action on that hallucination — sending an email, updating a listing, or filing a form — the damage can be real and hard to undo.

🎛️ The Control Problem

Start with supervised autonomy. Let agents draft, but don't let them send. Let them research, but review before sharing. As you build trust and understand the tool's limitations, gradually expand the leash.

💡 The Smart Play

AI agents are powerful but early. Use them for research, data gathering, and draft creation — not for sending emails to clients or modifying legal documents. Treat them like a brilliant but brand-new intern: full of potential, but they need supervision.
